About Catherine Lawlor School of Art

How it all began…  Catherine Lawlor’s School of Art is established over ten years and classes take place Monday to Friday; mornings (10.30 a.m.), afternoons (2.00 p.m.) and evenings (8 p.m.), bringing people together in a unique way through art, located at Balgriffin Hall, Malahide Road, Dublin 13.  The standard and diversity of artwork from the students is of exceptional quality, including traditional landscapes, seascapes through to contemporary art using various techniques and a range of mediums. Saturday full day workshops are available throughout the year catering for all levels of ability.  At the Art School there is a large and varied array of events on offer to students, these include:  Workshops Classes Painting Holidays Art Trips Studio Visits Guest Speakers and Demonstrations

I would love to inspire others and share what Art has given to me.  Catherine

What levels do we teach?

We cater for all levels in a friendly relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The classes are ideal for hobbyists where you can develop your skills at your own pace while having fun and meeting new people. Our classes are suitable for beginners to experienced artists.
We will regularly assess your progress and ensure you are working to your full potential. Many of our students even continue their development into 3rd level college courses.

What do the classes involve?  We cater for a vast range of art mediums such as oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels, chalk, ink and mixed medium. You will gain the skills to create your own landscapes, figuatures, portraits and seascapes. Originality in our students work is encouraged along with strong composition techniques all of which you will learn in our classes.  We place an emphasis on individual student attention with a maximum of 12 students per class. This allows us to asses your development individually and ensure you are always learning new content and progressing your skills.  We organise regular class outings to various locations around the country such as the Botanical Gardens, Howth and even as far as Inistioge in Kilkenny. These outings not only provide a great way to meet new people and enjoy the outdoors, but they will hone your visual instincts and develop your ability to create beautiful landscapes.
